Since the launch of Watermark Flood Fund in April it’s been non stop, the response to the project has been huge, we have eighteen businesses and over twenty-five products supporting the Watermark Flood Fund. New products and services are added weekly , it’s really popular,we have lamps, memberships, events, concerts, coffee, books, art work to mention a few. It’s all about businesses and communities working together to look after each other.
We are raising awareness by visiting businesses, leaving leaflets, posters and stickers around the towns, telling our friends to spread the word and using Social media to share our progress and show you all the wonderful businesses that are already selling products and contributing to the fund.
In April Greg Clarke Secretary of state came to see what we were all about, he loved Watermark and gave his backing to the Watermark project in the Calder Valley, one of a number of innovative new schemes raising millions of pounds to support residents both in the aftermath of December’s floods and long into the future. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and felt proud showing Greg how much had been achieved here since the Boxing day floods.
The Watermark Community Hub opened in June with the help of Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors, a great source of information for the community, we share the space with Community Foundation for Calderdale, Credit Union and Environment agency. It’s open from Wednesday to Saturday from 9am-5pm and you can find out about grants and help still available with the Community Foundation, join and support Watermark and the new Floodsave scheme in partnership with The Credit Union. At times there will be representatives from The Environment Agency on hand to talk about topics such as the local flood alleviation plans for Calderdale. We are also offering the space as a pop-up shop for flood affected businesses so they can continue to trade.

We have a Watermark Newspaper, packed full of positive stories and amazing photos from the flood, we are pretty chuffed with it, it’s free as well, they are available in the community hub and many other places around Calderdale, see if you can spot it. Some very kind people gave up their time to write and prepare the newspaper for free, it’s well worth a read.
Our very own bags and tea towels are selling fast at £6 each, they can be bought from many places around the valley now, if you would like to be a stockist please drop us an email email@example.com and we will gladly pop to see you.
You will see posters, window stickers, postcards and product stickers around the towns as businesses join up and promote their Watermark products. These are all available in our Community Hub to pick up, grab some for your neighbouring businesses and spread the word.
All in all an eventful few months and it’s only set to continue, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!
