Launching Watermark Flood Fund and Flood Save

It’s been an eventful eight weeks filled with branding, design, screen printing, web building, filming, chatting, espresso and much more!

Watermark Flood Fund and Flood Save launched on the 25th April to a very welcome crowd at The Town Hall in Hebden Bridge along with the Community Foundation, Chadwick Lawrence, Ryburne Brokers and Credit Union Calderdale.

Simon Waring from Ryburne Brokers
Simon introduced Flood Save, a match funded savings scheme for businesses and homes not covered by the FloodRE scheme in Calderdale. The Community Foundation for Calderdale have invested £500,000 from the flood fund, in the event of a flood this money will be used match fund the savings made by members.


Deborah Levey from The Credit Union
A new savings accounts has been created for Flood Save by The Credit Union. Members of the scheme will pay regularly into their individual credit union Flood Save account through monthly standing orders of £10, £25 or a maximum of £50. Chris Sands from Watermark Flood Fund and Totally Locally
Strong words and emotive film demonstrated what a positive impact Watermark Flood Fund will have on the community. Businesses selling a Watermark product or service aim to create a healthy fund for businesses and households if there is another flood incident. Chris explained “If all the businesses hit by the 2015 floods raised just £10 per week from their sales of Watermark goods, the fund would hit over £700,000 in 1 year”.


Steven Bonfield from Chadwick lawrence
The team at Chadwick Lawrence are funding the rental of a Watermark shop in Hebden Bridge for six months which will be used as a hub for the campaign, and to help to promote and publicise it to business, the general public, and visitors. They are also one of the first Watermark members offering 5% of all legal fees charged to new clients, both individuals and businesses, who are based in the postcode areas HX5, HX6, HX7, OL14 and HD6, this offer will run until 30th September 2016.


It was a bumper evening with lots of information and interest, many people staying after the event to buy some of the Watermark merchandise and to pick up a selection of leaflets posters and stickers to display in their shops and businesses.
